Deer Point Lake is best known for its shellcracker fishing. Anglers can enjoy fly fishing for shellcracker in the Spring and reeling in trophy largemouth bass all year round. Bluegill are also abundant in the lake. There are multiple boat ramps on the lake's shore and a fishing pier located on the west side of the dam. Two fish camps, Cherokee Landing and Tharp's Camp, call Deer Point Lake their home, as well.
